What to Do When Your SSS Maternity Benefit Claim is Denied

By KD

You can see on your online SSS account if your SSS Maternity Benefit Claim is Denied.

You will see the word "Denied"

Oftentimes, you can also see the reason for denial.

So what will you do when your claim is Denied?

1.  Wait for your claim documents to be returned to you through the postal mail.
Your documents will be returned to the address you wrote in your MAT2 form.

Can you go to SSS to get your denied documents?
Usually no, because they do not know where your documents are at a certain point in time.
No one is recording where every document is located at a certain point in time.

Can you file another set of claim documents?
No, because you do not know what SSS wrote in your denied documents.
Besides, SSS needs to see their remarks on the denied documents.

Can you go to SSS and ask for explanation for the denial?
Yes, go to where you filed your claim.

2.  After seeing the reason for your Denial, or the instructions for re-filing,
      comply with them.

3.  Re-submit your claim together with the correct documents.

How long are you going to wait for the documents to be returned?
It may take 3 weeks to 1 month or more from date of denial, based on comments from users.

Can I go to SSS and change the address written on my MAT2? I no longer live in the
address I wrote in my MAT2 form.
SSS cannot pinpoint the exact location of your documents at any point in time, so think of a way to access your previous address.
One option is to talk to the local post office or postman that serves your previous address.

    1. Hi chris: The MAT1 that you submitted through your former employer is the one you should use because it was the one you submitted prior to your delivery.
Since employed ka pa rin, but with a new company, you should file through your new employer because it is with them that you will take a leave for 60 days (or 78 days if CS). Your new employer will accomplish the Employer portion in your claim form.

    2. no need to file Mat 1 na po sa new employer? bale mat 2 na lang po i file ko sa kanila. kapag chinecheck ko online yung eligibility under sa E.R nila eto po lumalabas

Maternity Claim application will be rejected due to the following reason(s):
      * Employer not yet enrolled/no exemption request in SMB Payment thru the Bank Program.
Please inform your employer to submit properly filled out Enrollment form to designated SSS-Sickness/Maternity Accredited Bank.

    4. One more question promise last na , nagkamali kasi ko ng binigay na servicing branch. instead of main ibang branch naibigay ko. okay lang kaya yun? and ilang days bago mo makuha yung money if nakalagay sa status is settled claim and may check no. na din. salamat =)

    5. Hi chris: Iba-iba rin kasi ang flow ng every check, so mahirap magbigay ng time frame. We hope na lang na ma-deposit nila in your employer's account in 1 to 2 weeks. Kung i-send naman nila via postal mail, maybe in 3 to 4 weeks.
About servicing branch. sorry hindi ko ma-gets. Anyway, I hope it does not affect as you already have a check no.

  3. Mag pass po ulit ako ng Mat 1 with them as my employer? Diba the new employer should be the one filing my mat1 and mat2 since employed ako sa kanila?

    1. Hi Momay: Yong MAT1, okay lang naman na ikaw, kung at that time ay Separated ka. Or sige, kung umayaw sila na ipasa ang MAT1 mo kahit employed ka na sa kanila that time, okay lang na ikaw. But it's different with the MAT2 or the maternity reimbursement form, now that you're employed. They should be the one processing it, kasi they will need to sign the form. Merong employer portion ang form. At saka sa kanila ka magle-leave. Sa employer account din ise-send ang benefit, which will be forwarded to you through your payroll account.

  4. Good day! Please help. Filed my MAT2 last October 19. Tumawag ako sa hotline ng sss (917-7777) ngayon (November 24) to follow up my claims and unfortunately my claims was denied. (Separation docs, L501 and cert of non-advancement of benefits) separated from employer kasi ako. base sa mga nabasa ko I should wait for my documents bago ako makapag refile. Gano ba katagal bago dumating yung denied documents? And one thing, employed na ko with different company. Thank you po

Puede mo itong ipa-print or puede kang humingi sa nearest SSS branch.
