Can SSS Members Who Have Migrated Abroad Withdraw Their SSS Contributions?

By KD
No, SSS members who have migrated abroad can not withdraw their SSS contributions. They have to wait until they turn 60 before they can file a claim for their retirement benefits.

If they pass away before their retirement, their beneficiaries can file a claim for death and funeral benefits.

The SSS has disallowed the practice of withdrawing contributions in 1964.

Members who are living abroad can continue paying their membership premiums as Voluntary members, so they can increase their retirement benefits, or they can file claims for sickness, maternity or disability benefits even while living abroad.
